Big Brother is More Popular than Ever.
Big Brother, the original and best "reality TV show" continues
to be a big hit with viewers on Channel 4, E4 and the web attracting
record audiences for all services in its first few days on air.

5.8 million people tuned into watch the housemates enter the house
a 25.9% share of the available audience. The audience peaked
at 6.8 million a 30.8% share and the show was the highest rated
programme on Channel 4 so far this year. Audience for Sundays
(26th May) show averaged 4.2 million (22.7% share) and peaked at
4.9 million (29.2% share). Mondays (27th May) show averaged
an audience of 4 million (18.5% share) peaking at 4.4 million (20.2%
share) and Tuesdays (28th May) show averaged 3.6 million (17.8%
share) and peaked at 3.9 million (19.1% share). The average audience
for the same period last year averaged 3.6 million (18.5%).

Big Brothers success is also reflected in E4s viewing
figures. Fridays launch episode of Big Brothers Little
Brother averaged 755,000 and just over 1 million watched on Monday
(27th May) and 1.1 million watched on Tuesday (29th May) making
it E4s highest rating original commission to date. Last years
highest rating episode of Big Brothers Little Brother averaged
568,000.
The live streaming continues to prove popular peaking at 1.3 million
viewers in multichannel homes at 10.15pm on Friday 24th May (last
years streaming peaked at 658,000 on 20/07/01). This is the
second highest rating quarter hour ever on E4 just behind the premier
showing of the Brad Pitt episode of Friends earlier this year which
peaked at 1.4million.
Yesterday, (Tuesday 28th May) was E4s highest rating day ever
with a 10.4% share of 16-34s. The previous highest days were Monday
(27th May) with an 8.5% share of 16-34 and Saturday (25th May) with
an 8.3% share.

For the first full three days of Big Brother, www.channel4.com/bigbrother
received 9.1million page impressions. A 47% increase on the same
period last year. There were 478,000 unique visits a 94%
increase on the same period last year.
167,000 people have so far signed up for video streaming.
